Elephant's Ears Bach The elegant white flowers of Bach eventually age to blush pink making this plant a real stunner. Like other Bergenia, the funnel shaped flowers form on towering stems from Spring to early Summer, proving a valuable source of nectar for early pollinators. Bergenias are low growing evergreens with dark green wavy, rounded leathery leaves that turn crimson red in Winter. The compact growth of Elephant’s Ears make it suitable groundcover in a lot of locations where it will provide all year colour. Bergenias are good architectural plants for banks and rock gardens, hailing from the rocky woodlands of the Himalaya and therefore happiest in similar conditions. Bergenia Bach can be used as a contrasting plant for softer foliage such as ferns.Site: Shelter from drying winds, tolerant of some exposure.Soil: Most soil types.
