Crocus Fuscotinctus
A beautiful form of a species crocus which will naturalise well, Crocus chrysanthus Fuscotinctus is golden-yellow, with pretty brown streaks on the outside of the petals and golden-orange stamens. The flowers have a sweet scent, and appear early – Crocus chrysanthus is sometimes called the ‘snow crocus’. The grassy leaves set off the flowers beautifully. Crocus Fuscotinctus is best planted in September; plant close together, as this crocus likes to be crowded. It can also be planted in pots, and makes a lovely posy for the house.
