Tasmanian Snow Gum
Also known as Mount Wellington peppermint or Ironbark, Eucalyptus coccifera is a vigorous, fast-growing, evergreen tree, with a spreading habit and peeling, white to grey bark, sometimes with a pinkish tinge. The juvenile leaves are round and mid-green with an attractive bronze flush; mature leaves are elliptical, 4”/10cm long, and grey-green; the leaves are aromatic. Creamy-white clusters of flowers appear in summer. This eucalypt can be hard-pruned to keep the attractive, juvenile foliage, which is very good for flower-arranging. It is one of the few eucalypts that can be grown in a large container, if clipped. Tasmanian snow gum can suffer from stem die-back and damage to leaves in harsh winters.
