Butterfly Bush Prince Charming A very floriferous shrub for the smaller garden, Buddleja Prince Charming is a small, fast-growing, semi-evergreen shrub with a fairly open crown and a strong, mounded habit. The leaves are long, grey-green with paler undersides. The flowers are 10” (20cm) long, upright, conical and opening red from the buds, fading to a true raspberry-pink, with a light, honey-like fragrance, and appear from June until September; they are attractive to bees, moths and butterflies and other pollinators. Butterfly bush Prince Charming is quite drought-tolerant, once established, and tolerates air pollution. This is a low-maintenance shrub, but prune back hard to pairs of buds in spring to maintain the shape. As the plant doesn’t have a tap-root, water well in times of drought in its first year. Dead-head frequently to keep the flowers coming.
