Evergreen Magnolia Goliath A beautiful tree or large shrub, sometimes known as bull bay, Magnolia grandiflora Goliath is a tall, rather slow-growing, evergreen tree or large shrub with a rounded habit. The leaves are a glossy deep green, up to 10”/25cm long. The huge, cream, cup-shaped flowers are highly fragrant, with the characteristic magnolia centre, 1’/30cm across, and are borne in late summer and autumn. This easy-going Magnolia will tolerate dry, alkaline soil, although its preference is for moist, neutral to acid soil. It tolerates hard pruning and can also be trained up the wall of a house.
