Japanese Dogwood Miss Satomi A tall, rather slow-growing, deciduous cultivar of the Japanese dogwood, Cornus kousa Miss Satomi is lovely at all seasons of the year. In late spring, four showy, strawberry-pink bracts surround the inconspicuous, green flowers; these are followed by strawberry-like, inedible fruits. The oval, deep green leaves turn beautiful shades of red and purple in autumn, and in winter the attractive bark becomes the focus of attention. Requires minimal pruning. Japanese dogwood Miss Satomi holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
