Pear Concorde
One of the best dessert pears for Irish conditions, dessert Pear Concorde has the best characteristics of its parents, having the hardiness and reliability of Pear Conference and much of the succulence and delicious flavour of Pear Doyenne du Comice. The fruit is large, yellowish-brown with some russeting and sometimes a pink flush on the sunny side; the flesh is sweet, juicy, aromatic and fine-textured. The tree is compact, upright, a reliable, heavy cropper, and easy to grow. Spur-bearer. Comes early into bearing. Partially self-fertile to self-fertile, a good choice where there is only room for one pear tree, but will crop even better with a different pollination partner. Good choice for organic growers. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
