Blueberry Liberty A fairly compact highbush blueberry, up to 5’/1.5m high and wide and usually smaller, Vaccinium corymbosum Liberty® is a medium-sized fruiting shrub with a compact, well-branched habit and ornamental interest from spring to autumn. It produces delicious mid-late season berries which are very rich in vitamins, anthocyanins and antioxidants. The small leaves are mid-green, and turn fiery shades of red and orange in autumn. Small, urn-shaped white flowers, attractive to pollinators, are borne in May, followed by berries over a long period in August and September. Blueberry Liberty is the only fully self-fertile cultivar. It must be grown in acidic soil, or in ericaceous compost in a large container. Do not allow soil or compost to dry out.
