Rose-coloured Chinese Bladdernut
This is a medium-sized shrub for the middle-sized garden. Euonymus hamiltonianus Red Chief is a deciduous shrub, with very dense, hard wood, and leaves that are glossy, elliptical and bright green, turning magenta-pink in autumn. Insignificant creamy-white flowers appear in May; these are followed by shapely pink fruits which split to reveal dark pink seeds. Good in a wildlife or cottage garden. Hamilton’s spindle Red Chief is known to be attractive to birds.
