Camellia Nuccio’s Gem
A truly beautiful camellia, suitable for the larger or woodland garden, Camellia japonica Nuccio’s Gem is an evergreen shrub with leathery, simple, deep green leaves. The flowers are lovely, double, pure white, and up to 4”/10cm across. If you want to grow it in a generous-sized pot, use soil-based ericaceous compost. Water well in dry weather, so the buds, which form in late summer, don’t fall off. Fertilise with ericaceous feed in spring and again in June, and top-dress annually with shredded bark or well-rotted leaf-mould. Camellia Nuccio’s Gem holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
