Ribbon Grass Pure Gold A beautiful golden grass, Phalaris arundinacea Pure Gold is a small, vigorous, cool season, perennial grass, with a tufted, bushy habit. It starts into growth early, spreading by means of stolons, and making good ground-cover where its slightly invasive tendencies don’t matter. The leaves are narrow and a lovely, luminous, pale gold, bringing a splash of light to a partially shaded part of the garden. In summer, this grass may produce small brown flowers. Ribbon grass Pure Gold is related to the notorious gardener’s garters (Phalaris arundinacea var. picta) but is much less vigorous and invasive. Don’t plant in full sun, as the leaves will be green.
