Japanese Anemone Pamina A fairly new cultivar of Japanese anemone, Anemone hupehensis var. japonica Pamina is a lovely, long-flowering herbaceous perennial for the late summer garden. It has a spreading habit, tending to run at the root. The deep green, palmate leaves come up early in the year and, as they grow, are very good at concealing the dying foliage of ornamental alliums, which bloom earlier in the year. In August and September, sometimes into October, beautiful, semi-double, rose-pink flowers, 2”/5cm across, with a ring of golden stamens, rise above the clump on slender, dark stems. The flowers are attractive to pollinators. Japanese anemone Pamina holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
