Japanese Dogwood Cappuccino
A new variety with coloured leaves, Cornus kousa Cappuccino is a medium-sized, deciduous shrub with a bushy, spreading habit and horizontal branches. The ovate, deeply veined leaves emerge green, later bronze-tinged, and in autumn rich shades of burgundy red and orange. In spring, the shrub is covered with unobtrusive true flowers surrounded by showy, four-petalled, pure white bracts, 3”/6-8cm wide, sometimes tinged pink at the edges; flowering is best after a warm summer. Pink, rather strawberry-like, edible fruits make a fine display in autumn. The horizontal, architectural shape makes Japanese dogwood Cappuccino an excellent specimen shrub.
