Golden Columbine Yellow Queen A vigorous, deciduous hardy perennial. From early May, bulging lemon buds burst into large yellow blooms. The flowers, that have interesting long spurs, are carried on tall stems over a mound of blue-green fern-like foliage. The flowers are popular with bees and other pollinators. Aquilegia chrysantha Yellow Queen is a low maintenance plant that will establish quickly and self-seed quite readily. Columbines will grow almost anywhere there is a small amount of dappled shade on offer, and moist soil. They are perfect for naturalising at the edge of woodland or as underplanting in a rose border. Yellow Queen is an outstanding variety for cut flowers. Generally resistant to grazing deer and rabbits.
