Hybrid Foxglove Berry Canary
A hybrid of our native foxglove and the Canary Island foxglove, Digitalis x valinii Berry Canary is a small to medium-sized, herbaceous perennial, with an upright habit. The pointed, veined, typical foxglove leaves are deep green and virtually evergreen. From June to September, spires of trumpet-shaped flowers, pink outside, and cream with pink freckling and a narrow pink edge inside, rise above the basal rosette of leaves. They are carried all round the branched stems and are exceptionally attractive to pollinators, including honey-bees. As hybrid foxglove Berry Canary is sterile, it blooms for months, is longer-lived than most foxgloves and does not seed about. Not for very cold gardens.
