Astilbe Fanal
One of the best astilbe cultivars, Astilbe Fanal is an upright, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial, whose ferny foliage, borne on dark stems, emerges bronze, later turning green. Feathery spires of deep red flowers, attractive to butterflies and moths, appear above the foliage from June to August. Looks well with box, grasses, smaller hydrangeas, and good underplanted with daffodils, as the growing foliage hides the daffodils’ dying leaves. Astilbe Fanal holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
