Ground-cover Rose Magic Carpet
A free-flowering ground-cover rose with pretty, repeating flowers, Rosa Magic Carpet is a low, deciduous shrub rose, with a very broad, spreading habit, particularly useful for difficult sites like banks; it’s also good for filling space at the front of a border, and can be grown in soil-based compost in a large container. The glossy, deep green foliage on thorny stems is divided into slightly serrated, ovate leaflets. From midsummer into autumn, crimson buds open into clusters of cupped, semi-double, cerise flowers with golden stamens and a light, spicy fragrance; the blooms fade to lovely shades of lilac-pink, mauve and lavender. Drought-tolerant once established, it can be easily pruned by shearing it over. Ground-cover rose Magic Carpet holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
