Majorcan Hellebore
Also known as the blue-grey hellebore, Helleborus lividus is a small, clump-forming, evergreen perennial which is tender, and is best grown in a pot in a cold, frost-free greenhouse or cool conservatory, except in the mildest areas. Leathery, deep blue-grey-green leaves with silver veins and wine-red backs, divided into three toothed holly-like leaflets, are borne on wine-red leaf-stems, and are a lovely foil for the flowers. In late winter and early spring, cup-shaped apple-green flowers, backed and tinged with pink, appear. The Majorcan hellebore is an invaluable early nectar source for pollinators.
