Erman’s Birch Holland A Dutch-bred birch with year-round interest, Betula ermanii Holland is a tall, deciduous tree with an open, rounded, ovate crown and elegant habit. It is one of the first to come into leaf in spring, and one of the first to lose its leaves in autumn, revealing beautiful, flaking, silvery-yellow bark which looks lovely in the winter garden. The delicate, heart-shaped leaves are bright green with prominent veins and serrated edges, and turn clear yellow in autumn. Yellowish-green catkins appear in March and April. Erman’s birch Holland is suitable for medium-sized and larger gardens, and is a very good urban tree, requiring very little maintenance.
