Mentha x piperita
Peppermint is one of the classic Mints, and we love it for its dramatic looks - the dark-purple underside of the leaves and pale-purple flowers in late Summer. A strong scented and flavoured mint mostly grown for its culinary and medicinal uses, like herbal tea and mint sauce; and of course the refreshing mint candy we all know. Like all mint it is easy to grow but will spread and if you don't need much of it, you might consider growing it in a container.
