Purple Cherry Plum Pissardii
The purple cherry plum, Prunus cerasifera Pissardii, also known as Prunus cerasifera var. atropurpurea, is a medium-sized, deciduous, ornamental tree with a round, bushy, spreading head and very dark red-purple leaves. Blush-white single flowers open from pink buds on bare branches in early spring. Occasionally bears small, yellow or deep red cherry-sized plums, a good food-source for birds. Easy to grow, needing little pruning; an excellent ornamental tree. Stake firmly.
