Shrub Rose Old Pink Moss The oldest, and perhaps the most beautiful, once-flowering moss rose, Rosa Old Pink Moss is a medium-sized, deciduous old shrub rose of average vigour, with a graceful habit. The elegant foliage is divided into slightly serrated, ovate leaflets, and is mid-green. Moss roses are so-called from the curious, resinous, bristly ‘moss’ on the sepals, which has a lovely, woody or balsam fragrance. As this rose derives from a mutation of the centifolia (hundred-petalled) rose, the buds open into beautiful, globular, petal-packed, clear pink flowers, opening flatter as they mature, with a strong, delicious, Old Rose fragrance. Shrub rose Old Pink Moss is a fairly healthy rose, and is sometimes known, rather less attractively, as the Common Moss.
