Hydrangea Pinky-Winky A compact paniculata hydrangea, Hydrangea paniculata Pinky-Winky is a sturdy, medium-sized, fast-growing deciduous shrub with an upright to slightly spreading habit, very suitable for small gardens or pot culture. The large (16”/40cm) flower-heads are dense and conical and have a spicy scent. The fertile florets are cream with pink tips, and the sterile florets open lime-green, fading to white and finally turn deep pink, making for a striking contrast on the bush. The oval leaves are yellowish-green, on purplish-red stems which age to brown. To enhance flowering, prune hard (at least ? of previous year’s growth) in early spring. Hydrangea Pinky-Winky holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
