Meadow Cranesbill Midnight Reiter A lovely cultivar of the meadow cranesbill native to Northern Ireland, Geranium pratense Midnight Reiter is a small, neat, clump-forming, herbaceous perennial, ideal for the smaller garden and for pots. The heavily divided, palmate leaves are deep green, flushed with purple. The flowers are single, saucer-shaped, nearly an inch/2cm across, and a deep violet-blue; borne in summer, they are very attractive to pollinators. Meadow geranium Midnight Reiter is easy to grow; it’s good in rock gardens, the front of a border, and containers. Cut back flowered stems and worn-out leaves to encourage more flowers and fresh leaves.
