Eleven Leopards is an autobiographical account of time spent in the jungle of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). With enthusiasm and a sense of adventure, Burke describes the practical difficulties of moving through “the vanishing jungle”, and describes the various wild animals that she encounters.
Norah Aileen Burke (1907 – 1976) was born in Bedford. As a baby she moved to India, where her father was a forest officer. Burke wrote novels, as well as memoirs and travel books.
