Dwarf Beech Mercedes
An unusual, dwarf form of the common beech, Fagus sylvatica var. heterophylla Mercedes is a very slow-growing, medium-sized, deciduous shrub with a dense, branching habit; reaching about 39”/1m tall and wide in 10 years, it’s ideal for the smaller garden. The leaves are a deep, glossy green, long, narrow and willow-like, and turn bronze in autumn; they often remain on the tree right through the winter. Unobtrusive flowers appear in late spring.
