Dwarf Mountain Pine
A dwarf evergreen conifer, Pinus mugo pumilio is a low growing form of the Mountain Pine that carries upright branches with attractive clusters of male flowers in spring and cones in the summer and autumn. Its dark green foliage forms a good ground cover in a low maintenance garden. Also called the Swiss Mountain Pine, it works well in an alpine or rock garden for added foliage interest. Also suitable for containers and urban patio gardens as it is tolerant of air pollution. Can be pruned to keep an attractive shape.
