Hydrangea Mme Emile Mouillere
One of the best white mopheads, Hydrangea macrophylla Madame Emile Mouillère is a medium-sized, deciduous shrub with a broad, rounded shape. Large, pure white flowers with a tiny blue eye smother the plant in late summer; the blooms are long-lasting, turning pinkish as they age, and the plant flowers for a particularly long period. The leaves are a good deep green, a brilliant foil for the flowers. Lovely in a shady border, and, when young, in pots in a courtyard. The flowers are good for cutting and drying; leave the flower heads on the plant over winter to protect the flower-buds from frost and dead-head in February. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
