Mock Orange Virginal
One of the most popular mock oranges, and probably the best white double, Philadelphus Virginal is a large, vigorous, deciduous shrub with an upright, bushy habit, ideal for the back of a border. The tapered, oval leaves are mid- to deep green, setting off the flowers wonderfully, and turn yellow before leaf-fall. In June and July the bush is covered in fully double, snow-white flowers, whose rich fragrance of lemon and vanilla is carried on the air. Mock orange Virginal copes with sea air and urban pollution, and is a good, low maintenance shrub.
