Bugle Burgundy Glow A handsome cultivar of the native bugle, Ajuga reptans Burgundy Glow is a creeping, mat-forming, evergreen perennial which makes excellent ground-cover for a shady spot. The rather waxy, glossy leaves are silvery green, edged with cream and flushed with burgundy red, providing year-round interest. From May to July blunt spikes of deep blue flowers appear above the leaves; these are attractive to pollinators. Clip bugle Burgundy Glow when flowering is over to remove the flower-spikes and let the leaves shine through autumn and winter. Site: Sheltered; tolerates salt airSoil: Any moist but well-drained soil, preferably fertilePosition: Partial shadeFlowering period: Late spring and early summerHardiness: Very hardyHeight: 8” (20cm) Spread: 2’7” (80cm)
