Apple Gibbon Russet
An Irish heritage variety of dessert apple, Gibbon Russet was grown for cider in Kilkenny, Cork and Meath since the end of the 19th century. Round, firm, medium-sized apples, yellow, dotted and streaked with russet; white flesh, crisp, well-flavoured and sweet. Gibbon Russet makes a well-shaped tree and reliable cropper, very healthy and easy to prune. Spur-bearer. Early flowering, so not ideal for colder areas. Mid-season apple, will store until December.
This Irish Heritage Apple tree was originally saved and propagated by Irish Seed Savers in Scarriff, County Clare.
