Fig Brown Turkey
Grown for its luscious fruit and beautiful leaves, Fig Brown Turkey is the best choice for Irish conditions. In warmer parts of the country, it can be be fan-trained against a south- or south-west-facing wall with its roots constricted by a planting pit to restrict growth and encourage fruiting. Alternatively, plant it in soil-based compost in a large pot in a polytunnel or cool greenhouse. The fruit of Brown Turkey is green flushed purplish red, with sweet, succulent red flesh of excellent flavour; it is ready to pick when soft, and the skin splits easily.
