Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Red
An excellent, mid-season variety bred in Finland, Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Red (aka Hino Red) has become one of the most popular varieties in Europe, and is particularly suitable for very cold areas. The berries are medium-sized to large, deep wine-red, sweet and very juicy with a good flavour. Can be eaten fresh when fully ripe, or picked earlier when still greenish for cooking. The bush is vigorous but slow growing, and is suitable for smaller gardens. Reliable, heavy cropper. Disease-resistant, particularly to American Gooseberry Mildew, and suitable for organic growers.
