Apple Bardsey Discovered planted against the side of a house on the North Wales pilgrim island of Bardsey in 1998, dessert Apple Bardsey may be a descendant of a medieval monastic orchard. The apples are medium-sized, ribbed, and pink and cream coloured. Juicy and scented of lemon, they are excellent eaten straight from the tree, but can also be cooked to a pale golden fluff, needing no sugar. Produces fruiting spurs very freely. Apple Bardsey seems to be disease-free and resistant to scab, so is a good choice for wetter areas; also a good choice for coastal gardens if given the protection of a wall.
