Apple Annie Elizabeth
Annie Elizabeth dates back to Victorian times and is a well-known traditional English cooking apple. The flavour is sweeter than most culinary varieties, and it can also be eaten if you like a sharp apple. The apples are usefully large, and it is a good keeper, it is a good variety for any recipe where you want slices to keep their shape when cooked. It has attractive blossom which are hardy to late frosts. This is an ideal apple tree for tougher spots, it can easily withstand the cold and wet weather. It also shows good resistance to canker. Like many cookers that produce fruit late in the year Annie Elizabeth keeps extremely well, often to the end of March. Spur bearer.
