The grapes come from plots in and surrounding Haro. This was from an excellent vintage in Rioja. With a mild autumn, and a cold and rainy winter, the growth season began with enough resources for the perfect development of the vines. During this period, there were no pests and diseases until the end of the growth cycle. During the harvest, there were no significant rains, so the health and ripening of the grapes were excellent. A great year with great aged wines that can be stored for a long time. Perfect balance between the most amiable tannins and the good acidity, which give these wines an extraordinary length.   La Rioja Alta Viña Arana Gran Reserva Rioja Haro, Rioja 1 x 75clFollowers of this much admired estate will know that there is no Gran Reserva 904 until 2023, at which point we will see the 2015 vintage hit the market. Until then, fruit that would ordinarily go in to the 904 has been put in to the Vina Arana, the first tier of their three Gran Reserva bottlings. In the case of 2014, there is no 890 either, thus the Vina Arana includes all the best quality fruit from that year, producing a Gran Reserva of exceptional quality at an affordable price. It is produced from 94% Tempranillo and 6% Graciano, aged for three years in used American oak with traditional racking every six months.   Rioja Vega Gran Reserva RiojaHaro, Rioja 1 x 75clThe origins of Rioja Vega go back to 1882 when Don Felipe Ugalde established a bodega bearing his name in Haro. In 1948 the bodega joined with Bodegas Muerza through marriage and the name disappeared. In 1983 it was acquired by the Group Principe de Viana and construction of a new winery and a new brand, Rioja Vega, started in January 2001. The winery is located in the town of Viana, 10 km south-east of Logroño. There are also 51 hectares of Tempranillo and 9 hectares of Graciano planted around the winery, and a total of 70 hectares of vineyards is planned. The goal is to produce high quality grapes from low yields in modern surroundings. Mixed Case Price: €220.00
