Mary Larkin is a textile artist working in the art of felt making and botanical printing. She lives in the village of Meigh, within the beautiful Ring of Gullion in South Armagh where she works from her studio creating unique wraps and scarves, wall hangings and framed pieces. In recent years she has been experimenting with traditional forms of dyeing using plants. This has evolved into botanical contact printing or eco-printing, a technique that involves the use of various mordants to extract dyes from plants which are then transferred to fabric. Mary is very keen to use only natural fabrics, including wool, silk, cotton and Irish linen. Using local flowers and plants plucked from her garden and the neighbouring slopes of Slieve Gullion, Mary's aim is to preserve a little of nature and history in her work. Please note that colour may differ slightly from photos due to different monitor settings.
