Stephenstown Pond was commissioned in 1817 by the then landlord, Matthew Fortescue. It was built by William Galt who was married to Agnes Burns, the Scottish poet Robert Burns' sister. It is a popular place for families to visit and has been developed as a cross border community project in recent years.
