Eucalyptus Silver Dollar or Mealy Stringybark
A beautiful, small to medium-sized tree or large shrub, Eucalyptus cinerea subsp. cinerea Silver Dollar is a fast-growing, evergreen tree or shrub with a thick, fibrous bark, grey over reddish-brown, and a compact, dense crown of gorgeous, aromatic, silvery juvenile and intermediate, stalkless, aromatic foliage, covered with a white, waxy bloom. Adult foliage is rarely produced. This tree is well suited to temperate and colder areas. Its habit is like that of a standard apple-tree, and it does have a lignotuber, so will regenerate if someone, an animal or a falling tree knocks it down. In summer, sprays of small, greenish-white flowers appear. Good in a wildlife or low maintenance garden, but can also be used for hedging. Excellent foliage for floral arrangements, but keep it as a shrub – you don’t want to be climbing a tree for your leaves.
