Surface Design - Underglaze Techniques About the Course Explore surface design and learn the potential of underglazes during this new exciting workshop! Spend a half a day guided by the artist Mandy Geoghegan in our beautiful new studio and immerse yourself in the creative process.  Over the duration of this workshop you will cover brushstroke techniques and application and learn how to layer on colour with patterns to create your own unique design. You will learn simple illustration tips to bring your own ideas to life, or use our pre-made templates made by the teacher. This class is perfect for anyone interested in applying surface decoration to ceramic pieces. Each participant will get 3 tiles to decorate. They will be fired after the class and available for collection from our studio a few weeks after the class.  Underglaze definition: Underglazes are different forms of decoration, usually fluid that are added to pots before glazing.  If you would like to give this course as a gift please look at our Gift Cards options here. LOCATION: School of Pottery, 1 Little Green Street  TIME: 11am - 1pm FAQs Who is this course for? This surface design workshop will suit beginners looking for an introduction to surface design and decoration, or those who have worked with clay before and would like to deepen their knowledge about glazing techniques, specifically working with underglazes. Is there an age limit for the Workshop? This course is generally for people aged 18 and above. A teenager over 15 may attend if they are accompanied by an adult. Please let us know in advance.  What are my transport/parking options getting to the workshop? The nearest Luas Red Line stop is 'Four Courts', (a five minute walk away) and many bus routes service Stop 1479 on Ormond Quay, at the junction with Capel Street. You'll also find a Dublin Bikes stand at each of these locations. Due to our City Centre location, on-street parking immediately outside the building is limited, but there is pay and display in the general area, and there are large car parks nearby at Jervis Shopping Centre and beside the Fruit and Vegetable Markets. What does the course entail? You will be welcomed by your teacher and brought to your classroom. Each participant will have access to their own tools for the duration of the workshop. We supply all the materials you need. Each workshop ends with a class and equipment tidy up - another important part of the potter's training!  What should I wear/bring? Please wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting messy. Please bring your own apron (or an oversizes T-shirt) and a hand towel.   When will my pots be available for collection? On completion of the class we will fire 3 of your favourite pieces for you that you have glazed throughout the course and we will contact you when they are ready for collection - usually within a few weeks after the course. Is my booking transferrable and what is the cancellation policy? You may transfer your booking into someone else's name - please just let us know before they attend. Where can I contact you with any questions? You can email us at [email protected]. Thank you!
