Right beside the world-famous Giants Causeway, there is a whiskey distillery that is over 400 years old. The whiskey is aged in wooden casks, to give distinctive aromas to the legendary whiskey. During the ageing process, some of the whiskey is absorbed by the wooden casks and remains within the wood. The Causeway Casks Company decided to make use of this unique, aged wood that has been soaked in Irish Whiskey for over 15 years. We created Causeway Casks Smoking Chips. The casks are gathered, recycled and chipped, creating Smoking Chips that when used for barbecuing, add unique notes of toffee and caramel from the whiskey as well as smoky notes from the wood.
