POTTERY THROWDOWN WORKSHOP IN  SCHULL  On this one-day workshop, in a small class, you will work on your own pottery wheel to shape clay, guided by an expert potter, learning pottery throwing techniques and making some small pots of your own to take home with you.   You are welcome to bring all the pots you make home with you to airdry (please note these pieces can be used for display only but won’t be able to hold liquid).  We really hope you will enjoy your time on the wheel as much as we enjoy teaching it, and look forward to seeing you in Schull! Cost: €145 Time: 10am - 4pm one hour lunch (lunch will not be provided) Where and What Time: This workshop runs for a full day (10-4pm) in the Arran Street East  Creative Hub, in Schull, West Cork, google map. Lunch is from 1pm to 2pm, and you are welcome to bring your own lunch or there are several lovely places nearby for you to buy lunch if you wish. FAQs Who is this course for? This pottery workshop will suit beginners looking for an introduction to working with clay, or those who have worked with clay before and would like a simple refresher or time to make some new pieces. Is there an age limit for the Workshop? This course is generally for people aged 18 and above.  A teenager over 15 may attend if they are accompanied by an adult. Please let us know in advance.  What's the day like? You will be welcomed by your teacher and brought to a dedicated pottery classroom. Each participant will have access to their own pottery wheel/workstation and tools for the duration of the workshop. We supply all the materials you need. The workshop ends with a class and equipment tidy up - another important part of the potter's training! Please mention this to the staff at the hotel at the time of booking! www.schullharbourhotel.ie What should I wear/bring? Please wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting messy. Please bring your own apron and a hand towel. Should I wear a mask? As per the government's regulations masks are not mandatory during the workshop.  Are there any Health and Safety issues? Please note you will be working on a pottery wheel in a bent position which might put some strain on your neck or back or wrists. Please first consult your doctor if you have had back, neck, wrist or any other injuries.  Please keep your hair tied up and your nails short.  Can I take my work home with me? You will make  pottery pieces during the day which you are welcome to bring home to airdry if you like. Please bring your own wrapping (bubble wrap, tissue paper, small cardboard box, etc) if you would like to do this. Please note these pieces can be used for display only and are not watertight. You can recycle the clay in these pieces if you want to make something else or use our At Home Clay Kit if you would like to learn some handbuilding techniques in your own time.
