Avens Borisii A modest, but vivid form of garden avens, Geum borisii is a slowly spreading, vigorous, clump-forming herbaceous perennial with a ground-covering mound of rounded, scalloped, rich green leaves which set off the flowers beautifully. From late spring to the end of summer, erect stems carry strongly coloured, upward-facing, intensely reddish-orange, single flowers with yellow stamens that rise just above the leaves, a wonderful colour to set off violet or blue flowers or to pop up between late summer perennials. Deadhead to prolong flowering, remove dead leaves in autumn, and divide every few years.
