Thrift Alba
A white form of our native, seaside thrift, Armeria maritima Alba is a small, evergreen perennial with a dense, clump-forming habit, making excellent ground-cover. The narrow, deep green leaves are grass-like, and form neat, dense mounds. In May and June, for a long period, little drumstick heads of small white flowers rise on 6”/15cm slender stems above the tuft of foliage. The flowers often repeat sporadically through the summer, and are good for pollinators. Thrift Alba is drought-tolerant and wind-resistant, so is ideal for coastal gardens, but is also really good for sunny window-boxes on tall buildings.
