The Kitchen Set: Butter Dish and Salt Pig The stoneware butter dish and salt pig are designed to offer you practicality and beauty while cooking in your kitchen.  Their stoneware properties and practical design preserve the butter and salt at the optimum temperature for everyday cooking and eating, while their architectural form and colour palette is strongly influenced by the heavy geometric influences and triangular shapes of the Art Deco Chancery Park beside Arran Street East’s studio in the markets area. Buttering toast just got better with the help of the butter dish, which keeps butter out of the fridge at exactly the right spreadable temperature. The dish is in two parts: a plate onto which a slice of standard butter comfortably sits, covered by a mini-dome, which keeps your butter soft and protected. The dish is hand-thrown on a wheel in our pottery studio in Dublin and pairs really well with Kilkenny-based Eoghan Leadbetter's  hand carved wooden knife. If you enjoy cooking up a storm, the stoneware properties of the Salt Pig, (from the Scots dialect meaning an earthenware vessel) can help keep salt from clumping in humid kitchens, and has a wide opening so you can easily dip in to season your meal, using the Arran Street east designed, Eoghan Leadbetter made, wooden scoop, (or your fingers if no-one is looking).  The butter dish and salt pig offer you an ideal mix of both form and function and can be proudly exhibited on your counter or table top - it seems to us it’s a shame to just hide them away in a press. Materials:  Butter Dish: Hand thrown stoneware, dishwasher and microwave safe. Size: Lid height: 6 cm, 9.5cm diameter inside the rim of the plate.  Knives: hand carved, beech, ash, oak.  Glaze: From our Market and Cityscape collections.
