Avens Pink Petticoats
An exceptionally pretty, compact avens, suitable for the smallest garden, Geum Pink Petticoats is a small, semi-evergreen to evergreen perennial with a clump-forming habit, forming a mound of attractive, lobed, basal mid-green leaves. From April to August, and into September, rosebud-like buds on reddish-brown stems open to double, ruffled, nodding flowers, fuchsia-pink with a tiny lemon centre. Plant with compost or manure, for best effect in groups of three, at the front of a border; Avens Pink Petticoats is also good for underplanting roses. Once the flowers on each stem have gone over, pull away the stem to prolong flowering, and in autumn, pull or cut away any spent leaves. Divide every two to three years. Geums will not tolerate wet soils in winter,
