Rose Sir Cedric Morris
Discovered by and named for the famous plantsman, artist and gardener, Rosa Sir Cedric Morris is a very large, vigorous, thorny, deciduous rose with long, lax stems and beautiful, divided leaves flushed with purplish-grey, a legacy from its Rosa glauca parent. Like most ramblers, it flowers magnificently in midsummer, but does not repeat. Huge clusters of small, single, creamy-white flowers with golden stamens and a gentle scent are borne in midsummer, making a breath-taking spectacle. The flowers, which are attractive to bees, are followed by bright orange-red hips in autumn, giving a second season of interest. Rambler rose Sir Cedric Morris is a tough, hardy rose, particularly good trained over a pergola or up a tree with a late-flowering viticella-type clematis, which will flower when the rose has gone over. Because its stems are lax, it is easy to train.
