Chinese red-barked birch China Rose A new cultivar with bark of a deeper orange-red, Betula albosinensis China Rose is a beautiful tree which shines in all seasons. It forms a graceful, medium-sized, deciduous tree with an open twiggy crown, and beautiful, deep orange red bark, peeling to reveal patches of cream and beige, especially lovely when back-lit by the low winter sun. The pointed, ovate leaves, 3”/7cm in size, are deep-green with paler undersides, and turn yellow in autumn. Dangling, yellowish-brown male catkins and more unobtrusive female ones emerge with the leaves. Chinese red-barked birch China Rose will adapt to most situations and is a good tree for wild-life.
