The Green Rose A very old sport of Rosa Old Blush China, Rosa viridiflora is a small, repeating, deciduous shrub rose with a rounded habit, where all the petals of the flowers have been converted to leafy structures. The typical rose leaves are mid-green. The small flowers begin green, then form coppery tints; they are borne in June and continue into autumn. It’s a collector’s item, really, rather insignificant in the garden, but some flower-arrangers love it. Prune the green rose in February or March. It also does well in a sunny patio pot.
