Chinese Silver Grass Little Zebra A dwarf form of Miscanthus sinensis Zebrinus, suitable for the smaller garden, Miscanthus sinensis Little Zebra is a clump-forming, deciduous, perennial grass of average vigour and a compact and quite upright habit. The leaves are arching, narrow, and deep green with creamy-yellow horizontal banding, turning straw-coloured in autumn. In late summer, reddish-pink, feathery, plume-like flowers appear reliably above the clump of leaves; these turn silvery, and persist into the winter. Remove old leaves and flowered stems to 4”/10cm above the ground before growth appears in early spring, or, in windy areas, when the stems start to break up. Chinese silver grass Little Zebra is ideal for smaller gardens and can even be grown in soil-based compost in a large container.
